When exploring Salzburg starts to wear you down, take an Afro Break! The Afro Cafe sits at the far end of the Getreidegasse and provides a calming escape from the hustle and bustle that is Salzburg. Sit outside under the large yellow shade awning and drink a late morning Ice Coffee. Sink back into the deep cushioned settee and wonder if you will ever get up again?
Take a few photos of the crazy interior decor and conclude in the right situation, pink and red actually do go together! The breakfast (served until noon) is the most interesting you will find in Salzburg. Displayed on a three tiered tray, let the Afro Cafe take you away with delicious goodies like omelettes with Harissa, couscous with dates and figs and a house made liver pate with nuts. Afro cafe is a place where young locals and travelers meet over Kombucha drinks and strong coffee to discuss politics and travel plans. If you happen by for lunch, expect a crowd. You will likely be turned away without a reservation. After 2:00 p.m. however, you can easily slip in for an Afro Salatschüssel. Served in a big colorful bowl chock full of goat cheese and fresh leafy greens, you will soon forget you have been surviving on a full pork diet since arriving in Austria.
